WORK PROCESS

My work at TAA Group involved the complete fabrication process of large-scale sculptural and scenic elements for international theme parks. Starting from CNC-cut expanded polystyrene components, I worked through the different stages of production: assembly, hand-carving and refinement of the sculptural forms, fabrication, structural assembly and final finishing.

Depending on the requirements of each piece, different fabrication processes were used. Some sculptures were finished directly with a hard polyurea coating over the sculpted polystyrene, creating the durable final surface. Others were developed as masters for fibreglass mould-making and subsequent fibreglass lay-up, producing the final reproduced pieces. The work also included silicone mould-making and resin casting, as well as the fabrication and integration of internal metal or timber structures.

I was involved throughout the process, including surface preparation, assembly and final painting, both by hand and spray gun, taking the pieces through to their finished stage.
